Annual Training 0520

The Humvee Egress Assistance Trainer, or HEAT, simulates a Humvee rollover in order to prepare Soldiers for what a rollover might feel like and how to quickly respond to ensure their safety and survival. North Dakota Army National Guard Soldiers rotated through the HEAT during annual training the past two weeks at Camp Grafton Training Center, Devils Lake, N.D. (Photo by Sgt. Jessica R. Annual Training 1

Soldiers with the North Dakota Army National Guard’s 141st Maneuver Enhancement Brigade practice marksmanship at the Engagement Skills Trainer range at Camp Grafton Training Center, near Devils Lake, N.D., June 14. The trainer incorporates a large screen where situations play out, whether it’s pop-up targets or a simulated town with civilian and enemy personnel moving throughout the area. Soldiers use weapons connected to an air compressor to fire at the screen, and a computer reading instantly gives them the results of how many hits and misses they achieved. (Photo by Sgt. Jessica R. Mar 22nd
Here is the full warm-up class assignment- This is partially what was videotaped for my very first Warm-Up class assignment for BCRPA approved Group Fitness Instructor course taken at this time- mid-July 2011 – I will be done this soon- hope to become Certified here with these amazing instructors at inshapetraining.net with Sandra the Instructor there- This was taken onstage teaching my first trial class with fellow students following- all students did a 3 min. warmup onstage for the others to follow- several others to follow- taken at Ron Zalko (fitness KIng internationally- famous for working with Jane Fonda) – It was fun- it appears that something may have gone wrong with this filming for this assignment but was corrected very quickly- there was a mix-up on my part with putting the music on (foreign stereo system)- … More assignments to follow however within the next few weeks… It was Fun!

Photo Series ~ Reminisces of Summers Past.
This series is not to mourn the passing of this summer, for it’s passing was expected and anticipated. No, it’s to mourn those aspects of summer which never began; those places and things that last saw summer use many years or decades ago, but are now forgotten or neglected.
Reminisces of Summers Past. Seeing things as they are now and imagining them as they were then.
Hydropark, a Sunday in July
Just another abandoned ride at Hydropark. However, parts of Hydropark are still used somewhat extensively. There are a few rides nearby that are still operating. The beaches on the Dneiper are still well used during the summer. Some beaches are free, and some are operated for profit. There is an fitness area with Soviet era weight training equipment (note to self: must get a picture of this). And there is an area with the biggest number of outdoor ping pong tables that I’ve ever seen.

A shunt at Athlone East Junction, Westmeath on a gloriously sunny winter’s day – bet it was freezing cold though. They’re not easy to spot, but there’re three men in the cab of the engine. Originally asked for train buffs to translate 10S 25D, and Flying Snail kindly obliged. It’s "speed limit for Steam (10mph) and Diesel (25mph) traction for crossing the Shannon Bridge. These differential speed limits were required because of the varying weight each kind of locomotive distributed onto the bridge structure."
And it looks like 574 on the side of the engine…
